Saving a Rare Emerald Blue GameCube Controller

This emerald blue GCC was in rough shape when I got it, so I stripped it apart completely, gave it a good clean, soldered on some anti-snapback capacitors and a tactile Z, then finished it off with a handmade cream paracord wrapped cable.

I recently got this PS2 Gibson SG for Guitar Hero and decided it needed some TLC. The rubber cord had gotten old and stiff over the years, so I replaced it with some "sushi" paracord. I had two Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers that were experiencing stick drift problems. Luckily it was a relatively easy fix of cleaning the potentiometers with isopropyl alcohol. I also give the controller a deep clean for a nice refurbished feel. I was trying to figure out why this Omega Ruby style Nintendo 2DS wouldn't turn on. The solution ended up being relatively simple. I still have one today, it’s great for at night if you can’t sleep, because it doesn’t emit blue light.
What about the other steps? Like using an R4 card to properly set the time. If you don't that's how you get the berry glitch. I think it might be possible to actually use the pomeg berry glitch to bring up the fix without the R4 but don't quote me on that lol.

I mean, are you trying to get solder on your hands? Because I personally try to avoid burning myself 😂
@@thecanmanification There's no reason the solder would get on their hands. If they make a bad move and get the _iron_ on their hands, however, they're gonna be cooking that glove into their skin rather than just getting a nasty blister.
Haha yes! I don't do it to prevent burns, but to lower my exposure to chemicals, as I'm often soldering and handling PCB's for multiple hours a day.

I no rocket surgeon but isn't that rubber on the wire kinda important. Seems like it was meant to insulate you from something.
there's 4 wires inside a normal usb 2.0 device each of those wires are insulated already.

Good thing you aren't a rocket surgeon then. The wires have their own insulation already. The black cord just kept it all together and protected from damage, as this will as well. The black housing is not what's providing the insulation.
No, the electricity flowing through the controller cable isn't enough to even feel.
Yeah, it is important! Back in the days before rubber, they used a braided material to insulate wires. You can still find it on some very vintage electronics. Rubber is safer where high voltage and current are involved. But it's a nice aesthetic mod since that's not a concern with controller cables, as there's only a very small amount of electricity that would ever go through them.

You know you can leave one of the inner white strings in and tie it to the cable and just pull it through in 2 seconds right?
